HMRC Spam Warning

You'd never expect Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs to send prank emails would you?.......

They don't!

We would like to warn clients of what appears to be a realistic email from HMRC about possible refunds but is actually another SPAM Fraud.

The email is being sent out with request to complete & return information to enable a refund.

A typical email is shown below.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU DO NOT REPLY TO ANY SUCH EMAILS & ALERT YOUR CLIENT MANAGER IMMEDIATELY IF YOU RECEIVE ONE.

We know you are alert to hoaxers but we just wanted to make sure!

Dear Applicant:

We have reviewed your tax return and our calculations of your last year’s accounts a tax refund of GBP 178.25 is due.
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons.
For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

Please download and submit the form attached to this email in order to complete your tax refund.
